Frequently Asked Questions for Investors:

Q: Who is an ideal client for FJY?
A: FJY’s services are ideal for young professionals & families, business owners, executives & entrepreneurs, and late career professionals. Our clients are busy professionals who understand that they do not have the expertise—or the time—necessary for proper financial planning or investment management. They understand that they can add significant value to their lives by delegating to FJY critical processes, tasks and tools—such as helping identify weaknesses in areas like estate planning and risk management–that will help them achieve their goals.

Q: How is FJY different from other financial service firms?
A: FJY is fee-only firm. We do not receive commissions, referral fees, bonuses, awards, or non-monetary benefits based on our financial planning or investment recommendations. Our services cover all aspects of our clients’ financial lives. We are integrated and take a holistic approach, which helps us formulate the strategy and plans that are aligned with every significant milestone in your financial life. View more information on our investment philosophy or our financial planning services.

A: Yes. If you don’t have an accountant or estate attorney, we would be happy to recommend one that fits your personal needs and budget.

This team works together to help our clients plan and work through difficult and often complicated financial transactions. Our team approach gives clients confidence in not only the quality of the advice they are receiving, but also the depth and continuity of this advice.

A: Laurie A. Belew, MS, MBA, CFP® is the chair of the FJY Investment Committee, and you may direct your calls to her at 703-889-1111. Our investment committee reviews the performance of our current investments at least annually. At that time, we identify high-priority asset classes for review and set our calendar accordingly. We make a conscious effort to schedule meetings with investment companies at times during the year when it is consistent with our priorities, so that we are able to maintain focus on each particular asset class. Even when a meeting is appropriate, it is not unusual for us to schedule 4-6 weeks in advance. We prefer to schedule investment committee meetings during the last week of the quarter.
