Chief Operations Officer, Chief Compliance Officer
Partner and Co-Founder
Daniel D. Joss MBA, CFP®, RLP® is a seasoned Financial Life Planning professional. As one of less than 100 Life Planners in the United States and less than a dozen in the greater Washington D.C. area, Dan not only helps clients achieve their broad financial goals, but ties them to achieving deeper, long term life objectives.
As the Chief Operations Officer and Chief Compliance Officer at Fox, Joss and Yankee, Dan has over a decade of experience in global asset allocation and portfolio design for professionals, including helping individual and corporate clients with retirement plans, cash management, insurance needs analysis, real estate, education funding techniques, and estate planning.
Yet Dan also helps clients go beyond the numbers of budgets, investments, taxes and insurance to explore their broader life and financial plan context. Trained at the Kinder Institute of Life Planning, under the father of the life planning movement, George Kinder, Dan is skilled at helping clients process questions such as:
“If you had more time or money, what would you do?”
“What do you want to accomplish or attain so you will feel that you’ve had a life well-lived?”
“What moves, touches, or inspires you?”
As clients undertake a thoughtful inquiry into their deepest and most enduring values and objectives, their financial priorities and actions begin to connect more closely to their life dreams and wishes. Dan is trained to provide creative and positive ways to overcome obstacles, great or small, which may hinder individuals from moving forward with their dreams.
Dan speaks regularly in various peer forums and professional organizations. He is a member of the National Capital Area Chapter of the Financial Planning Association (FPA NCA). He has also been quoted in various national and local print and online publications. Some of Dan’s clients have also volunteered their personal financial stories to national publications like Smart Money and Kiplinger’s.
Dan earned the degree of Master of Business Administration, with an emphasis in financial planning from Regent University in 1999. He is a graduate of the University of Southern California, where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration with emphasis in accounting and finance. His Registered Life Planning (RLP®) designation from the Kinder Institute of Life Planning came in June 2009.
He is a former commissioned officer of the United States Army and served in several challenging leadership positions. During his military service, he successfully completed two of the Army’s most rigorous training programs, earning the Ranger Tab and the Master Parachutist Badge.
Dan lives in Vienna, Virginia, with his wife, Robin. They have two sons, Dryden and Deven, and a daughter, Daelyn. He enjoys investing time in his family, traveling, Bikram yoga, CrossFit, TI swimming, cycling, and playing an occasional round of golf. Together, they worship at the Tyson’s campus of McLean Bible Church in Vienna, Virginia.
