I could not be more excited to be joining FJY Financial as a summer associate. The internship opportunity at FJY allows future financial advisors to gain educational and professional exposure with a reputable firm. The firm is committed to helping interns gain experience in all areas of financial planning.
I grew up in a small town of about 6,000 people in Lampasas, Texas. I was raised on a cattle ranch in the beautiful hill country, along the Colorado River. Growing up in the country on a ranch, there was always work to be done, so I learned the value and importance of hard work at a very young age.
Coming from a house that was divided between University of Texas Longhorns and Texas A&M Aggies, I am the first in my family to attend Texas Tech University. I was accepted into the Accelerated Bachelors to Masters Degree program in Personal Financial Planning and I will graduate in December of 2013. I am the Graduate Assistant for the Personal Financial Planning Department at Texas Tech. I also serve as the Treasurer for our student organization, Personal Financial Planning Association, which will soon be a student FPA Chapter. In addition to PFPA, I am also active in Red to Black and VITA. Red to Black is an organization that offers free and confidential peer-to-peer financial coaching to students and the Texas Tech Community. VITA provides free income tax preparation to low-income families and individuals in the Lubbock community. During Opportunity Days, which is when recruiting events took place at Texas Tech, I was honored to receive the first FJY Financial Scholarship, which was presented to me by Jon Yankee.
I consider myself blessed to have the opportunity to join FJY Financial this summer. I am excited to be working on a team with some of the most well-known financial advisors in the Washington D.C. area.
